About This Spot

Stepping into Bathurst Local feels like entering a quietly spirited retreat tucked into the heart of Toronto’s bustling Bathurst Street. It hums with a relaxed rhythm — a place where familiar faces meet and friends gather without fuss, drawn by the warm glow of soft lighting and an inviting blend of effortless charm. The atmosphere moves at a comforting pace, unhurried yet alive, offering a welcoming space to unwind or celebrate in equal measure.

The bar’s personality is woven from the unmistakable spark of a welcoming neighborhood spot with a twist. Here, the careful curation of drinks invites exploration — from thoughtfully poured sakes to a whisky selection that feels more like a personal conversation about heritage and craft than a menu. The playful edge of cocktail innovation mingles gently with the ease of well-loved classics, while a modest but well-chosen offering of snacks keeps the evening grounded and convivial.

Beyond its liquid delights, Bathurst Local reveals another layer that sets it apart: intimate, YouTube-powered karaoke rooms that foster spontaneous moments of joy and connection. This isn’t just about singing; it’s about sharing memories, laughter, and a palpable sense of camaraderie in a space that feels both vibrant and comfortably familiar. Whether gathering for a low-key catch-up or marking a milestone, the setting encourages genuine, unpretentious moments that linger long after the last song fades.

What unfolds here is less about spectacle and more about the honest pleasures of good company, thoughtful drinks, and a place that feels like a second home. It’s the kind of bar where the staff’s authentic attentiveness and the quietly curated choices speak volumes, making every visit feel like a small discovery worth returning to again and again.

Such a great karaoke spot! Had my birthday party there and grape juice after dark was a phenomenal room for Karaoke for about 17 people. Owners and managers are transparent, cooperative and communicative. Had a great time

I’ve been coming here for 10 years and this is by far the best bar in the city. It’s a nice low key bar. They also have private rooms for karaoke and they’re great. Their sake collection is really nice. Also amazing wine selection. The owner Glenn is awesome. No bullshit kinda guy.

I never have a bad time here. Infinite selection with the YouTube. Homey vibes. Glenn. Can sing for hours here with friends and I most certainly have.

Came here for a birthday celebration and had an absolute blast. The karaoke was YouTube based but because of that we were able to choose whatever we wanted. The room itself was such a vibe. Food was limited to fries, a burger and a hot dog but the burger was one of the best I've had. Would definitely go back

For the best sake and wine selection - Glenn the owner can suggest a unique and interesting option for you that I guarantee you haven’t tried before. For the best service and unmatched selection, this place is amazing.

What's it like at Bathurst Local? The better question might be: What's a relationship? When I first found Bathurst Local eleven years ago, I was a rowdy single twenty-something, and it was the perfect place to bring a date: a quiet, gentle, intimate bar where a wise man named Glenn and his partner Anna were posted up with the best and most reasonable whisky and cocktail list in the city, and a mission to curate a vibe where you could have a nice conversation at any of its rec-room-style tables. It quickly became My Place, and Glenn and Anna's steadfast friendliness through the years made me feel validated for doing so. One first date I took there would eventually become my wife, in fact; to this day, she makes fun of me because she thought I spent too much of the date chatting with Glenn, the Platonic ideal of a barkeep. Then, when the pandemic struck and bars were hit particularly hard, G+A rightly refused to take it sitting down, while still staying in keeping with their brand of warmth and style and deep booze expertise. They crushed it there, too, by opening more seating, then a natural-wine and sake bottle shop, then karaoke private rooms. They built things up and out of that little space with the command-central bar, and dropped the cocktail list along the way -- I lost my beloved Stay Gold -- but of course that happened. In this life, nothing gold can stay, nor should it. Today, even in my dotage, BL remains all the things I want it to be. On weekends, I get to do raucous YouTube karaoke with my friends in what are certainly the nicest rooms in the city (and the fanciest drinks, too). On weeknights, it's still My Place, the intimate bar with the pitch-perfect vibe. And what has stayed gold through all the change are the two dervishes at the heart of it, who have always run the whole ship all by themselves and care so much about their place and their people. Anyway, this is all obviously way too much to have written for a Google review. But I should answer my earlier question: what's a relationship? It's something that's there for you, as each of you changes through the years, and carries you along the way. And that's what it's like at Bathurst Local.

Update 2025: Been hitting up Bathurst Local for years, and I swear it gets cooler every time. This place is the perfect mix of old-school charm and modern swagger. It’s the kind of spot you just know has the best stories. Let’s talk drinks—sure, they’ve got some of the most interesting wines you can’t get anywhere else. But here’s the kicker: an upstairs Sake Bar that feels like you’ve just discovered your new favorite secret hangout. Cozy, lowkey, and private. It’s like stepping into your own personal oasis. The food? Yeah, it's damn good, but let’s get real—the burger here is the KING. Don’t even think about getting a burger anywhere else. This one rules the throne. The owner? Straight up, one of the coolest, most knowledgeable guys around. Not the stiff, fake “owner” type—he’s got heart and knows his stuff. The staff? Friendly as hell, always ready to make you feel at home. And let’s not forget the karaoke rooms. Yeah, you heard me. Grab a mic, lose your mind, and either sober up or take your party to a whole new level. It’s that easy. Don’t overthink it—just do it. Bathurst Local’s not just a bar, it’s a vibe you’ll never forget.

Bathurst Local is hands down my favourite ‘third place’ in the city. Back in 2022, my friends and I made this cute little pact, we’d go out for dinner every week to keep each other company, but also to yolo and live our best lives. One night, after celebrating my birthday at a restaurant on Dundas, we randomly wandered into Bathurst Local for drinks. Visually, their botl shop is this warm, cozy, dark, and elegant bar. To our surprise, we discovered they also have the coolest karaoke rooms tucked inside this space, making it feel like you've entered a totally different reality. Their karaoke rooms are fun, vibrant, elegant and filled with the best vibes. They are extremely high tech and have the best sound system too. From that moment, I knew I’d found my absolute favourite spot in Toronto. Since then, it’s become the place where my friends, family, and I have celebrated just about everything, bachelorette parties, birthdays (I even celebrated my mom’s birthday here!), friend reunions, you name it. We’ve shared laughter, tears, life updates, and the full spectrum of emotions within those karaoke rooms. Glenn and Anna, have a special gift for making everyone feel genuinely welcomed. I honestly look forward to seeing them every visit. I forever appreciate the life catch-ups, the laughter, and the completely judgment-free zone they create, especially when they walk in on my friends and I absolutely breaking it down in the room or singing the most dramatic numbers. They are also extremely generous and kind. I’ve been in almost every karaoke room they have, and each one has its own amazing and unique features. One of my favourite things is that you can bring your own food, but they also offer snacks which always hold down the fort. Plus, their bottle shop and drink menu are fantastic, and their online ordering system makes it so easy, they deliver everything straight to your room. Bathurst Local will forever be my favourite place and they deserve all the love. I’ll always recommend Bathurst Local to anyone planning an event or just looking for a guaranteed good time.
